A $200,000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection allows the city of West Park to install modular stormwater-management systems.

The project calls for the city to install precast concrete modular systems in existing retention ponds. The use of these modular systems will allow the city to cover parts of the retention ponds for potential redevelopment.

“The proper management of stormwater runoff remains one of DEP’s top priorities,” DEP Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard Jr. said. “Even as cities such as West Park explore their options for redevelopment, it is important to make sure stormwater runoff does not negatively impact Florida’s environment.”

The city of West Park is located in the southeastern part of Broward County. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
