The Friends of Sebastian Inlet State Park, a citizen support organization dedicated to the park and its two museums, awarded student and park volunteer Felicia Gordian a Carl Rodenbeck Memorial Scholarship for $1,000 scholarship recently in recognition of her support of the popular fishing, surfing and camping destination.

The scholarship is named in honor of the late Carl Rodenbeck, a park ranger who envisioned and helped create an organization of people from the surrounding community that acted as stewards of the park. The scholarship has been awarded annually to qualified applicants for more than 20 years.

Recipients must be currently enrolled in a high school, college or university and must have participated in at least 100 hours of volunteer activities at the park or one of its museums. The student must submit a 1,000-word essay about the volunteer service and personal experiences at the state park.
