Apalachicola Research Reserve Opens Aquatic Preserve Gallery Exhibit

Tonight, the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve will hold the grand opening of preeminent Florida photographer Clyde Butcher’s popular and award winning photo exhibit Living Waters: The Aquatic Preserves of Florida. The exhibit includes museum quality framed pieces of black and white photography that showcase the pristine beauty of the state’s aquatic preserves.

The pieces are part of a traveling collection on loan from Butcher to the Florida Coastal Office. Beginning in 2004 the exhibition has traveled the state to increase awareness of and appreciation for Florida’s 41 Aquatic Preserves. The grand opening will include a showing of the documentary, Living Waters: Aquatic Preserves of Florida, by famed producer and cinematographer Elam Stoltzfus, which highlights the aquatic preserves. A new outdoor classroom and bayside boardwalk at the Reserve facility will be introduced to the public at the event.

The exhibit will continue at the Reserve through July. The documentary may be checked out from Visitor Relations on DVD for home viewing for a limited time.
